The General Directorate of Labour (DGT) the General Directorate of Enterprises (DGE) are the two competent authorities for the transposition of the Platform Work Directive.

Social partners have held the first consultations with the government on the transposition. It’s unclear as yet what form the transposition will take, whether it will be a new legislation or reform of an existing law.

Unions wrote a joint letter to the Minister of Labour and the Prime Minister on 23 February 2026 urging them to resume consultations as soon as possible on the transposition process, but there has been no response to this. The government has appointed three ‘mediators’ as part of the consultation on the Directive, indicating their proposals are likely to be divisive.

The expectation is that the transposition will not happen now by the 2 December 2026 deadline.

The risk of a bad transposition is that the government weakens labour law, for instance through creating a third-status.
